"Air Conditioning" Sickness

If you have ever stayed indoors for long periods, with your air conditioner on....you may have noticed that you could start to feel cold and stuffy with a noticeable lack of energy.
The truth is, your air conditioner can interact with the environment that can make you sick... when bacteria, mould, fungus and mildew meet in your air conditioning units.
If you have a dusty, un-vacuumed zone/s, air conditioners will circulate the sickness-inducing allergens present.
Though air conditioners can help dry out a home, and can even be beneficial for the respiratory system, they cannot address the root cause of mouldy or dirty walls and floors.
As the allergens from mould, bacteria, fungus etc are made airborne, they will cause stuffy noses, sore throats and even difficulty breathing.
The FACT is, your air conditioners can be the place that mould, bacteria etc proliferate if the units aren't properly maintained.
THE SCIENCE behind this is as follows:- as air is pulled over the coils in each air conditioning unit, condensation (moisture) is produced. This is the perfect environment for bacteria and mould if the units aren't cleaned regularly- especially if the air conditioner is run very cold which may cause cold- causing viruses to spread.
It is known that viruses survive best in low humidity, cold environments- which an air conditioner set low will create. These ultra cold temperatures make arteries constrict to stop heat loss in your body. In turn, this decreases white blood cells that ordinarily protect the body against viruses. Finally, a dry environment caused by air conditioners will evaporate the moist lining of the nose which also make it more susceptible to infection.
